Can you name the top ten best Auld Lang Syne downloads & download recordings?
Thousands of artists have performed or released renditions of the New Year’s Eve staple Auld Lang Syne. Here are the Top 10 Best Auld Lang Syne recordings & downloads of all time. Most downloads pale in comparison to these gems: 1. Auld Lang Syne: Scott West & Sex On Sunday (November 2006) Featuring Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon and Sex On Sunday’s Scott West, this version of Auld Lang Syne begins with West’s dynamic piano and strings swelling into Hannon’s searing guitar work. West’s arrangement deserves top honors for its beautiful textures, riveting crescendos, fueled by the magnificently fresh power and tone of Hannon’s burning fret work. This warm arrangement brings an edgy, contemporary vibe to the song, making it the best recording of this holiday classic and most popular Myspace Auld Lang Syne download. Myspace.com/47734340 More from Scott West at Myxer Number 1 Most Downloaded New Year's Ringtone (Scott West's Auld Lang Syne)#1 New Years Eve Song Ringtone On The Web! 2. Auld Lang Syne: Guy Lombardo & His Royal Canadians (Dec. 1947) Decades of New Year’s radio and television broadcasts popularized Guy Lombardo’s big band arrangement of Auld Lang Syne. Lombardo has two well-known renditions of the song. The most recent was released in 1947 by Decca Records and is the best big band recording. Lombardo's name is synonymous with New Year's Eve and he is often billed as "the only Canadian to have popularized an American tradition" and as "the sweetest sound this side of heaven." ITunes.com 3. Auld Lang Syne: Kenneth McKellar (1995) McKellar’s smooth glistening voice and the orchestral arrangement make this the standout operatic version of Auld Lang Syne. It features excellent recording quality with stunning vocals and arrangement. This is my favorite Auld Lang syne download with vocals.http://www.maybole.org/community/celebrations/christmas/greetings/AuldLangSyne2.mp3 4. Same Old Lang Syne: Dan Fogelberg (1981) Fogelberg’s Same Old Lang Syne is not the traditional version, but it ends with a beautiful saxophone solo of the traditional melody. This song features a compelling modern day story about meeting one’s old lover in a grocery store. Over the years, it has become a holiday radio and download favorite. ITunes.com 5. Auld Lang Syne: Bing Crosby (1949) How can you not love the smooth, melodic voice of one of the all-time greatest crooners singing one of the world’s most famous songs? There’s a reason Crosby got a Grammy award for singing holiday music in 1947. His buttery voice melts through every word and note. ITunes.com 6. Auld Lang Syne: Ronnie Browne (1999) Linn Records recording of Auld Lang Syne by Ronnie Brown is the best Scot-influenced interpretation. This recording is part of a collection of songs written by Scottish poet Robert Burns that was produced by Dr. Fred Freeman. This simple arrangement showcases The Corries famous lead singer and the traditional Scottish arrangement of the holiday classic. 7. Auld Lang Syne: The Beach Boys (1965) The Beach Boys included a harmonized a-capella version of Auld Lang Syne on their 1965 Christmas album. This version has more appeal than the band’s other version with the voice over that buries those amazing Beach Boy harmonies. This is a great a-capella recording. ITunes.com 8. Auld Lang Syne: Kenny G (2002) Kenny G’s millennium mix includes an audio collage of historic political and entertainment tidbits from the 20th Century. Walter Afanasieff co-produced this recording and Dave Foxx & Lou Simon produced and arranged the audio collage portion, which is historic and remarkable. Kenny G's Auld Lang Syne download should be part of your holiday music collection. 9. Auld Lang Syne: Jimi Hendrix (Recorded LIVE December 31, 1969) The recording quality of this version does not measured up to Hendrix’ legendary oeuvre or his other famous performances. Recorded at the opening of Hendrix’ second set at the Fillmore East on December 31, 1969 to January 1, 1970, this version does not reach Hendrix’ dynamic “Star Spangled Banner” in intensity, dynamics or recording quality, but is still a noteworthy rendition. 10. Auld Lang Syne: The Highland Pipers (1998) This sweet, instrumental recording features a soft Scottish flute playing the melody line, not bagpipes. This is the most laid back of the top ten and is well suited for a romantic-candle-lit New Years evening for two. It is the last track on the Highland Pipers “Highland Christmas: Carols For Scottish Bagpipes.” TOP 10 BEST AULD LANG SYNE RECORDINGS: 1.Scott West(2006) 2.Guy Lombardo(1947) 3.Ken McKellar(1995) 4.Dan Fogelberg(1981) 5.Bing Crosby(1949) 6.Ronnie Brown(1999) 7.Beach Boys(1965) 8.Kenny G(2002) 9.JimiHendrix(1969) 10.Highland Pipers(1998) Originally published in The Village Voice (New York City) By Marie Lila. looking for guys to play some musicposted: November 19, 2009, 07:29 PM

Still looking for band members. Me, guitarist/vocals, looking for bass, drums, lead guitar, and keys, and need most, if not all, to at least be able to sing harmony vocals and preferably lead vocals also. Looking for older guys 40+ even 50+ is fine. Will be playing Country/Classic Rock/and maybe some blues/rock. DO NOT WANT younger guys wanting to set the world on fire, I'm looking for guys with a day job and not in a hurry. We will play gigs, but only when the band is ready and we decide we're ready. We will probably gig only a couple of times a month at most, so if you're looking to play more than that, I'm not looking for you. No Hired guns, only group members wanted. I don't care if it takes months to get ready, I'm not in a hurry either. I've done the full time musician thing and not interested in doing that again, unless the conditions were perfect.
I have rehearsal space, PA, Lights, and Trailer to haul it all. Now just need the GOOD FRIENDS to make the music... I've tried to make this post as clear as possible... I'm not dissing any age group or any group of musicians, just listing what I'm looking for... Thanks for taking time to read this novel!!! LOL do not reply to this unless you read the whole message!!!! Mark www.markabarnhill.com www.myspace.com/markbarnhill www.facebook.com/markbarnhill • Location: Nashville/Priest Lake

Thank you for visiting my guitar lesson advertisement. Finding an interesting, fun, educated, and a properly qualified, guitar teacher is important. I started teaching in 1973 as the Syracuse University referral guitar instructor when I was a student in their music program, I now teach a few hours each week because I enjoy it. You only need a willingness to improve your skills or learn new ones. STRAIGHT EDGE seeks harmony singing guitaristposted: November 6, 2009, 11:09 AM

We are an established, four piece (two guitars, bass, and drums), hard rock Christian band from Nashville, TN called STRAIGHT EDGE. We are seeking to find a guitarist that can also sing great second part high harmonies. We need someone that plays rock solid rythym, harmony leads, is a quick study (does his homework), and has a legitiment "Marshall" sound to blend with the first guitar and reproduce the CD's sound. You MUST be able to hear and sing second part/tenor very well!!!
A little bit about us... we usually perform our ALL-ORIGINAL show on weekends within a 400 mile radius of Nashville. We play festivals, churches, youth rallies, biker events, civic events, showcase clubs, fund raisers, benefits, and virtually any venue that seeks a hard rock band with a positive message. We have our first debut CD recorded and three more CDs worth of material to finish. We currently have a clear and focused vision, rehearsal space, recording equipment, loads of material, full PA and lighting, large truck for transportation, a manager, a sound engineer, a lighting tech, full promo kit, merchandise table, and lofty ambitions with realistic goals. We are shooting for national radio airplay and building a mighty ministry. We rehearse once a week at the founding member's home studio in Lebanon, TN (just east of Nashville). We are a well-oiled machine that takes our ministry very seriously. We are all veteran players with years worth of experience, equipment, and resources that allow us to be very professional and put on a seasoned, inspiring stage show. We all have families and good day jobs, but, we are pushing our group towards full-time ministry. Presently, we are covering our expenses and building the band. We don't expect you to PAY TO PLAY, just get to rehearsal. There's not much money now, but, we believe there will be some in the future. If you're wanting to join this project just to make money, you're not what we're looking for. The right candidate for our band will have the following characteristics: - A "calling" to serve with their talents and gifts - Great chops - Professional gear and tone - Great attitude - Great vocal abilities - Good stage presense and image - No ego issues - Reliable transportation - The time and resources to be a dedicated, "sold out" member of a professional band. This is the criteria we're looking for. If you don't have it, don't bring it! This is a great project, loaded with potential for someone to get involved with and push for the brass ring. We take our band very seriously. We are a band of Christian brothers set on building a vast ministry and we're needing someone to join our ranks, sign on to the vision, and dedicate themselves to becoming a mighty bandmate for God. After reading about this position do you feel a "calling" to procede further?? You may be the man God has ordained to be our next member. Research our group thoroughly at www.myspace.com/str8edgerocks. If you think you have what it takes to be a part of our ministry and would like to set up an audition, contact us at str8edgerocks@gmail.com or call directly and ask for Mark @ 615-483-3130. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Thanks for taking your time to hear about our group. Hopefully, you've been stirred to go forth and seek the position and you will fit our vision perfectly. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Blessing to you, STRAIGHT EDGE "Rock for a Reason!!!" I am 19 years old and have been privately trained for 12 years.I have also modeled for 5 years, and have received a scholarship to the University of Dayton for vocal performance. I have studied genres from Musical Theater to Jazz to Opera, though my passions lie in country music. I am looking for a band (or atleast an acoustic guitarist) to collaborate with me in writing music. I write lyrics which may be a help but I do need someone to help with the instrumental aspect. I aspire to achieve a record deal within the next year or two so I am looking for someone who is very serious about entering the music industry.

Out of those 20 years of playing guitar I have also been teaching lessons, 14 years to be exact, and playing/ recording/touring. Here's just of few of those wonderful people/musicians: Stan Lassiter, Regi Wooten, Mel Deal, Mimi Fox, and Joe Diorio. My lessons are tailored to the individuals strengths and weakness'. I cover all the fundamentals of playing the guitar such as chords, chord fingerings, scales, scale fingerngs, song transcribing, ear training, sight reading, improvisation, rhythm playing, soloing, open tunings, how to use the Capo, ensemble playing, and technique. Each lesson focuses on the interests of the student as well as the necessary tools that are needed in progressing as a guitarist/musician. Guitar Lessons with Former David Lee Roth Band Guitaristposted: June 28, 2009, 03:03 AM

Guitar Lessons with Bart Walsh
Bart Walsh brings more than 35 years of guitar playing and teaching experience to his guitar lessons. From his early days touring the Southeastern club circuit to his world tours with Van Halen’s David Lee Roth, Walsh has developed an encyclopedic knowledge of rock and blues guitar styles—and the music theory that makes it all work. The North Carolina native began playing in club bands in the late 1970s. During touring breaks he also started to teach guitar professionally. In 1986 he moved to Hollywood, where he broadened his skills by studying at the Musicians Institute with such influential guitarists as Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Frank Gambale, and Howard Roberts. He later taught at the Institute. Bart immersed himself in the L.A. rock scene, founding several original rock acts, as well as the Atomic Punks—an in-demand Van Halen tribute band that swept the West Coast club scene in the mid-’90s. Bart built up an impressive list of credits as a session player, contributing to recordings with David Lee Roth, Tia Carrere, and Brett Michaels, and provided tracks for TV shows King of the Hill, Special Ops Force, and Snoops. In 1999, Bart embarked on a three-year stint with David Lee Roth’s band that took him on two worldwide tours, playing in front of a million fans on three continents. Bart Walsh’s guitar lessons is a comprehensive tour of rock and blues music. Bart’s wide range of performance and teaching experience, his knowledge of music theory, and his deep understanding of the history of music proves him time and again to have the riff, the explanation, and the anecdote—whatever it takes to make you a better player. 615-566-1613 bartnashville@yahoo.com • Location: Old Hickory
