Some guitar players just want to play modes NOW- not devote years to studing music theory. After learning music theory to the point of playing modes, I soon realized that there is a way to explain how to play all these modes in every key simply by counting frets. I developed this Modes Method in 1986, and have been using this approach in my lead playing ever since. I can show you how to play this way in just minutes. It’s OK, I know that you do nott believe me--but I can prove it to you. Play in:
LOCRIAN DORIAN PHRYGIAN AEOLIAN IONIAN LYDIAN and MIXOLYDIAN No theory, no TAB, no memorizing note names in countless scales! You do nott even have to read music notation. I show you how to move my PRIMARY scale down or up the neck by counting frets in order to play each mode in all twelve keys. Only ten dollars, and I pay the shipping. Do not ignore this valuable offer- you may not be able to find it again! I will send part of it to you. Works for guitar and electric bass. Circumvent music theory. Open up an enormous vista to your playing. Write me! Not a scam- I can prove this. http://www.modesmethod.mysite.com/cgi-bin/blog From Modes Method users: I have only spent 1 hour working on the system so far and i can see how this will help me!!!....Thanks Again Randy THANK YOU for getting me out of the box. THIS is a turning point moment for me. I ll keep in touch --Tony Hey man I have it and I am putting it to use. Had one of my jam buddies play A and Am then ran the minor pentatonic scale and I see what you mean about “add two notes”. I feel confident this is going to help me. So Dan, here you have it, - you told me so. Thanks again, Ron |

a newly established, serious indie/art-rock band now looking to team up with with a talented female vocalist. Major plus if you play an instrument.
Age/style/ image appropriate. Confidence, charisma required. We have the talent, pro gear, and over a dozen songs ready to go. Writing/recording more. We are, however, open to lyric co-write & musical collaboration. We just need a vocalist who has the voice, the style, and the stage presence to help create the best sound possible and be a part of a band that will stand out in the indie music scene. Our signature sound is a fun blend of driving acoustic and electric guitar, layered with synth, cello, with a touch of ambient electro-pop. Each song is unique and has it's own personality. Just finished our first EP, songs have already earned solid press reviews, label interest, licensing offers, and a Billboard World Songwriter award. Heavily involved in music publishing & recording, with a solid career game plan in place. Connecting with UK/ Euro/ Asian labels and marketing well overseas. What next? a music video, full length album (3 producers currently working with us) and of course .. Live shows! A unique, breathy female vocalist would make this project massive. Into bands such as: Silversun Pickups, The Cure, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Bat for Lashes, Joy Division, Imogen Heap, The Kills, The Smiths, Cat Power, Radiohead, Minipop, Mazzy Star, The Bravery, Metric, St. Vincent, MGMT, Shiny Toy Guns, The Pixies, The Sundays, My Bloody Valentine, New Order, Smashing Pumkins, Depeche Mode, Slowdive, & many others, If this sounds like you, Please send us what you have in mind or links to your songs and we will do the same. We take the music we create very seriously and are taking these songs as far as we can go. If you're intrigued, please get in touch! Sounds like: - The Sundays, The Cure and The Killers formed a band together. - A heavier version of Toxic Airborne Event with more powerful breathy male & female vocals. - Arcade fire with stronger hooks, more cello & emotion. • Location: Harriet Wheeler, Bat 4 Lashes, Karen O. + dreamy electro-pop)

I am going to keep this short and sweet. I am a singer/songwriter, and I also play rhythm guitar. I mainly do country, but I am willing to do anything else. I do not have a myspace page or anything like that yet. I am easy going and just want to play.
If interested and want to know more, please email me and we can work something out Mike • Location: Nashville

Never a better time to start...play guitar or better your skills!
I am accepting new guitar students. If you are interested in furthering your playing whether it be solos, songwriting, or just for fun, I have been a professional guitar instructor for 25 years and have taught all ages, styles, and levels. I have some very specialized methods geared towards song writers and can explain the most in depth music theory concepts in layman's terms. The lessons are 1/2 hour but I squeeze alot into that time to give the student plenty to work on. I also teach "tools" that are ongoing for the student as opposed to just a "lesson" for the week. I have also been written up in Guitar Player Magazine, played an international guitar festival in Mexico the last 2 years, and had my guitar work placed on national TV and film. I can come to you or you can come to me. Email for more info, cheers, Musically yours, Chris Dunnett www.ChrisDunnett.com www.MySpace.com/ChrisDunnett www.MySpace.com/CountryRockerDude www.Bloodseal.com www.MySpace.com/Bloodseal • Location: Nashville/Madison

Top Ten Best Auld Lang Syne Downloads & Auld Lang Syne Downloads Recordposted: November 20, 2009, 03:01 AM

Can you name the top ten best Auld Lang Syne downloads & download recordings?
Thousands of artists have performed or released renditions of the New Year’s Eve staple Auld Lang Syne. Here are the Top 10 Best Auld Lang Syne recordings & downloads of all time. Most downloads pale in comparison to these gems: 1. Auld Lang Syne: Scott West & Sex On Sunday (November 2006) Featuring Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon and Sex On Sunday’s Scott West, this version of Auld Lang Syne begins with West’s dynamic piano and strings swelling into Hannon’s searing guitar work. West’s arrangement deserves top honors for its beautiful textures, riveting crescendos, fueled by the magnificently fresh power and tone of Hannon’s burning fret work. This warm arrangement brings an edgy, contemporary vibe to the song, making it the best recording of this holiday classic and most popular Myspace Auld Lang Syne download. Myspace.com/47734340 More from Scott West at Myxer Number 1 Most Downloaded New Year's Ringtone (Scott West's Auld Lang Syne)#1 New Years Eve Song Ringtone On The Web! 2. Auld Lang Syne: Guy Lombardo & His Royal Canadians (Dec. 1947) Decades of New Year’s radio and television broadcasts popularized Guy Lombardo’s big band arrangement of Auld Lang Syne. Lombardo has two well-known renditions of the song. The most recent was released in 1947 by Decca Records and is the best big band recording. Lombardo's name is synonymous with New Year's Eve and he is often billed as "the only Canadian to have popularized an American tradition" and as "the sweetest sound this side of heaven." ITunes.com 3. Auld Lang Syne: Kenneth McKellar (1995) McKellar’s smooth glistening voice and the orchestral arrangement make this the standout operatic version of Auld Lang Syne. It features excellent recording quality with stunning vocals and arrangement. This is my favorite Auld Lang syne download with vocals.http://www.maybole.org/community/celebrations/christmas/greetings/AuldLangSyne2.mp3 4. Same Old Lang Syne: Dan Fogelberg (1981) Fogelberg’s Same Old Lang Syne is not the traditional version, but it ends with a beautiful saxophone solo of the traditional melody. This song features a compelling modern day story about meeting one’s old lover in a grocery store. Over the years, it has become a holiday radio and download favorite. ITunes.com 5. Auld Lang Syne: Bing Crosby (1949) How can you not love the smooth, melodic voice of one of the all-time greatest crooners singing one of the world’s most famous songs? There’s a reason Crosby got a Grammy award for singing holiday music in 1947. His buttery voice melts through every word and note. ITunes.com 6. Auld Lang Syne: Ronnie Browne (1999) Linn Records recording of Auld Lang Syne by Ronnie Brown is the best Scot-influenced interpretation. This recording is part of a collection of songs written by Scottish poet Robert Burns that was produced by Dr. Fred Freeman. This simple arrangement showcases The Corries famous lead singer and the traditional Scottish arrangement of the holiday classic. 7. Auld Lang Syne: The Beach Boys (1965) The Beach Boys included a harmonized a-capella version of Auld Lang Syne on their 1965 Christmas album. This version has more appeal than the band’s other version with the voice over that buries those amazing Beach Boy harmonies. This is a great a-capella recording. ITunes.com 8. Auld Lang Syne: Kenny G (2002) Kenny G’s millennium mix includes an audio collage of historic political and entertainment tidbits from the 20th Century. Walter Afanasieff co-produced this recording and Dave Foxx & Lou Simon produced and arranged the audio collage portion, which is historic and remarkable. Kenny G's Auld Lang Syne download should be part of your holiday music collection. 9. Auld Lang Syne: Jimi Hendrix (Recorded LIVE December 31, 1969) The recording quality of this version does not measured up to Hendrix’ legendary oeuvre or his other famous performances. Recorded at the opening of Hendrix’ second set at the Fillmore East on December 31, 1969 to January 1, 1970, this version does not reach Hendrix’ dynamic “Star Spangled Banner” in intensity, dynamics or recording quality, but is still a noteworthy rendition. 10. Auld Lang Syne: The Highland Pipers (1998) This sweet, instrumental recording features a soft Scottish flute playing the melody line, not bagpipes. This is the most laid back of the top ten and is well suited for a romantic-candle-lit New Years evening for two. It is the last track on the Highland Pipers “Highland Christmas: Carols For Scottish Bagpipes.” TOP 10 BEST AULD LANG SYNE RECORDINGS: 1.Scott West(2006) 2.Guy Lombardo(1947) 3.Ken McKellar(1995) 4.Dan Fogelberg(1981) 5.Bing Crosby(1949) 6.Ronnie Brown(1999) 7.Beach Boys(1965) 8.Kenny G(2002) 9.JimiHendrix(1969) 10.Highland Pipers(1998) Originally published in The Village Voice (New York City) By Marie Lila. Still looking for band members. Me, guitarist/vocals, looking for bass, drums, lead guitar, and keys, and need most, if not all, to at least be able to sing harmony vocals and preferably lead vocals also. Looking for older guys 40+ even 50+ is fine. Will be playing Country/Classic Rock/and maybe some blues/rock. DO NOT WANT younger guys wanting to set the world on fire, I'm looking for guys with a day job and not in a hurry. We will play gigs, but only when the band is ready and we decide we're ready. We will probably gig only a couple of times a month at most, so if you're looking to play more than that, I'm not looking for you. No Hired guns, only group members wanted. I don't care if it takes months to get ready, I'm not in a hurry either. I've done the full time musician thing and not interested in doing that again, unless the conditions were perfect.
I have rehearsal space, PA, Lights, and Trailer to haul it all. Now just need the GOOD FRIENDS to make the music... I've tried to make this post as clear as possible... I'm not dissing any age group or any group of musicians, just listing what I'm looking for... Thanks for taking time to read this novel!!! LOL do not reply to this unless you read the whole message!!!! Mark www.markabarnhill.com www.myspace.com/markbarnhill www.facebook.com/markbarnhill • Location: Nashville/Priest Lake

PLAY GUITAR? Music theory over your head? MODES are yours now!posted: November 17, 2009, 09:46 AM

Have you reached a plateau in your playing that you cannot seem to bust out of? I’ve been using a method I devised over twenty years ago to play lead guitar using the modes listed below without the use of any music theory. Expand your playing. Have access to the notes of these modes in all keys without memorizing note names or reading TAB or music notation. My Modes Method explains how to move a specific pattern up or down the neck of the guitar by counting how many frets you move it. It employs all six strings in standard tuning. It sounds like some kind of scam but it really works! I can prove it to you with no risk to you. Play in:
PHRYGIAN LYDIAN IONIAN DORIAN AEOLIAN MIXOLYDIAN & LOCRIAN For guitar & bass. It’s only ten bucks and NO SHIPPING. Advance light years ahead in your playing in just minutes. This is a valuable offer you should not ignore! No music theory knowledge needed. Write and I will send you some text from the Method, FREE. It is not a scam and I can prove it. http://www.modesmethod.mysite.com/cgi-bin/blog E-mailed from Modes Method users: I had a chance to look it over in the last couple days. It looks so simple. I saw your ad on craigslist and bought your system because I am always looking to improve my playing and hey, it was cheap. --Mike It made sense to me within the 1st 5 min of practicing. I've been practicing it over an E chord loop from my computer. Thanks, Matt i just recieved the method today. its great! i spent a long while trying to memorize music theory. but this just made me feel dumb for not thinking of this earlier. thnx alot -eric Thank you so much --Tony |

Six String Jazz & Friends have been invited back to Green Hills
Piano. Appearing Friday evening, November 27th, a band of rowdy jazz
musicians will play tunes from such composers as Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Monk, Coltrane, and others from a bygone era.
Surrounded by more than a dozen fine pianos, beautifully restored to their former grandeur by Grant Houston, the band will bring life to such composers as Cole Porter, Count Basie, and Rogers and Hart that, like the pianos, were at the heart of accessible American music from the 1930s to the '50s. We play this music because it has proven its worth by surviving for many years, bringing joy and beauty to thousands of people.
