GUITARISTS hear about MODES, and just want to play them-not theory

Some guitar players just want to play modes NOW- not devote years to studing music theory. After learning music theory to the point of playing modes, I soon realized that there is a way to explain how to play all these modes in every key simply by counting frets. I developed this Modes Method in 1986, and have been using this approach in my lead playing ever since. I can show you how to play this way in just minutes. It’s OK, I know that you do nott believe me--but I can prove it to you. Play in:

LOCRIAN
DORIAN
PHRYGIAN
AEOLIAN
IONIAN
LYDIAN and
MIXOLYDIAN

No theory, no TAB, no memorizing note names in countless scales! You do nott even have to read music notation. I show you how to move my PRIMARY scale down or up the neck by counting frets in order to play each mode in all twelve keys. Only ten dollars, and I pay the shipping. Do not ignore this valuable offer- you may not be able to find it again! I will send part of it to you. Works for guitar and electric bass. Circumvent music theory. Open up an enormous vista to your playing. Write me! Not a scam- I can prove this.

Hey man I have it and I am putting it to use. Had one of my jam buddies play A and Am then ran the minor pentatonic scale and I see what you mean about “add two notes”. I feel confident this is going to help me. So Dan, here you have it, - you told me so. Thanks again, Ron

Need Progressive Rock Bass Player for Established Band

Nashville progressive rock group Zasz is looking for a replacement bass player. Our sound is often compared to The Mars Volta, Radiohead, Incubus, Porcupine Tree and Dream Theatre to name a few. Currently in the process of recording our second release, a 5 song concept EP called "Destiny Beside the Great Divide". Planning a tour for December thru January in support of our newest release.

We are looking for a bass player that is easy to work with, can play in odd time signatures, reading sheet music is a plus, has their own gear and transportation, and who has no bad habits or hangups. Bring your creativity, unique personality and passion to the table and we'd love to work with you :)

You can check out our music on www.myspace.com/zaszrevolution or on our website at www.zaszrevolution.com. None of the new material is up yet, so if you like what you hear, contact me and I will provide you with the new stuff. Please feel free to email me at timzim@zaszrevolution.com or call me at (484) 614 3582.

I have a Fishman upright bass pick-up for sale. I bought it a few years back while on tour but really haven't used it since then. It's in good shape, still in the box in fact.
I bought it for $150 but asking an even hundred bucks.

looking for guys to play some music

Still looking for band members. Me, guitarist/vocals, looking for bass, drums, lead guitar, and keys, and need most, if not all, to at least be able to sing harmony vocals and preferably lead vocals also. Looking for older guys 40+ even 50+ is fine. Will be playing Country/Classic Rock/and maybe some blues/rock. DO NOT WANT younger guys wanting to set the world on fire, I'm looking for guys with a day job and not in a hurry. We will play gigs, but only when the band is ready and we decide we're ready. We will probably gig only a couple of times a month at most, so if you're looking to play more than that, I'm not looking for you. No Hired guns, only group members wanted. I don't care if it takes months to get ready, I'm not in a hurry either. I've done the full time musician thing and not interested in doing that again, unless the conditions were perfect.
I have rehearsal space, PA, Lights, and Trailer to haul it all. Now just need the GOOD FRIENDS to make the music...

I've tried to make this post as clear as possible... I'm not dissing any age group or any group of musicians, just listing what I'm looking for...
Thanks for taking time to read this novel!!! LOL

do not reply to this unless you read the whole message!!!!

PLAY GUITAR? Music theory over your head? MODES are yours now!

posted: November 17, 2009, 09:46 AM

Have you reached a plateau in your playing that you cannot seem to bust out of? I’ve been using a method I devised over twenty years ago to play lead guitar using the modes listed below without the use of any music theory. Expand your playing. Have access to the notes of these modes in all keys without memorizing note names or reading TAB or music notation. My Modes Method explains how to move a specific pattern up or down the neck of the guitar by counting how many frets you move it. It employs all six strings in standard tuning. It sounds like some kind of scam but it really works! I can prove it to you with no risk to you. Play in:

PHRYGIAN
LYDIAN
IONIAN
DORIAN
AEOLIAN
MIXOLYDIAN &
LOCRIAN

For guitar & bass. It’s only ten bucks and NO SHIPPING. Advance light years ahead in your playing in just minutes. This is a valuable offer you should not ignore! No music theory knowledge needed. Write and I will send you some text from the Method, FREE. It is not a scam and I can prove it.

E-mailed from Modes Method users:
I had a chance to look it over in the last couple days. It looks so
simple. I saw your ad on craigslist and bought your system because I am always looking to improve my playing and hey, it was cheap. --Mike

It made sense to me within the 1st 5 min of practicing. I've been practicing it over an E chord loop from my computer. Thanks, Matt

i just recieved the method today. its great! i spent a long while trying to memorize music theory. but this just made me feel dumb for not thinking of this earlier. thnx alot -eric

Thank you so much --Tony

Six String Jazz & Friends have been invited back to Green Hills Piano. Appearing Friday evening, November 27th, a band of rowdy jazz musicians will play tunes from such composers as Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Monk, Coltrane, and others from a bygone era. Surrounded by more than a dozen fine pianos, beautifully restored to their former grandeur by Grant Houston, the band will bring life to such composers as Cole Porter, Count Basie, and Rogers and Hart that, like the pianos, were at the heart of accessible American music from the 1930s to the '50s. We play this music because it has proven its worth by surviving for many years, bringing joy and beauty to thousands of people. The core group consists of Ned Ramage, guitar, Mel Nelson, piano, Robert Wolf, drums, Hugh Bramhall, congas, Ryan Murphy, guitar, Nels Noseworthy, baritone sax, and Wayne Renardson, acoustic bass. Friends are invited to sit in. If interested in playing, contact Wayne Renardson at wayne@renardson.org for particulars or a setlist. "One man gets nothing but discord out of a piano; another gets harmony. No one claims the piano is at fault. Life is about the same. The discord is there, and the harmony is there. Study to play it correctly, and it will give forth the beauty; play it falsely, and it will give forth the ugliness. Life is not at fault." -----Oscar Wilde

STRAIGHT EDGE seeks harmony singing guitarist

posted: November 6, 2009, 11:09 AM

Replystr8edgerocks@gmail.com

We are an established, four piece (two guitars, bass, and drums), hard rock Christian band from Nashville, TN called STRAIGHT EDGE. We are seeking to find a guitarist that can also sing great second part high harmonies. We need someone that plays rock solid rythym, harmony leads, is a quick study (does his homework), and has a legitiment "Marshall" sound to blend with the first guitar and reproduce the CD's sound. You MUST be able to hear and sing second part/tenor very well!!!

A little bit about us... we usually perform our ALL-ORIGINAL show on weekends within a 400 mile radius of Nashville. We play festivals, churches, youth rallies, biker events, civic events, showcase clubs, fund raisers, benefits, and virtually any venue that seeks a hard rock band with a positive message. We have our first debut CD recorded and three more CDs worth of material to finish. We currently have a clear and focused vision, rehearsal space, recording equipment, loads of material, full PA and lighting, large truck for transportation, a manager, a sound engineer, a lighting tech, full promo kit, merchandise table, and lofty ambitions with realistic goals. We are shooting for national radio airplay and building a mighty ministry. We rehearse once a week at the founding member's home studio in Lebanon, TN (just east of Nashville). We are a well-oiled machine that takes our ministry very seriously. We are all veteran players with years worth of experience, equipment, and resources that allow us to be very professional and put on a seasoned, inspiring stage show. We all have families and good day jobs, but, we are pushing our group towards full-time ministry. Presently, we are covering our expenses and building the band. We don't expect you to PAY TO PLAY, just get to rehearsal. There's not much money now, but, we believe there will be some in the future. If you're wanting to join this project just to make money, you're not what we're looking for.

The right candidate for our band will have the following characteristics:
- A "calling" to serve with their talents and gifts
- Great chops
- Professional gear and tone
- Great attitude
- Great vocal abilities
- Good stage presense and image
- No ego issues
- Reliable transportation
- The time and resources to be a dedicated, "sold out" member of a professional band.

This is the criteria we're looking for. If you don't have it, don't bring it!

This is a great project, loaded with potential for someone to get involved with and push for the brass ring. We take our band very seriously. We are a band of Christian brothers set on building a vast ministry and we're needing someone to join our ranks, sign on to the vision, and dedicate themselves to becoming a mighty bandmate for God.

After reading about this position do you feel a "calling" to procede further?? You may be the man God has ordained to be our next member. Research our group thoroughly at www.myspace.com/str8edgerocks.

If you think you have what it takes to be a part of our ministry and would like to set up an audition, contact us at str8edgerocks@gmail.com or call directly and ask for Mark @ 615-483-3130. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Thanks for taking your time to hear about our group. Hopefully, you've been stirred to go forth and seek the position and you will fit our vision perfectly. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Blessing to you,
STRAIGHT EDGE "Rock for a Reason!!!" Isaiah 42:16

Professional Bassist Available

posted: November 5, 2009, 09:00 PM

Replyamandamccoybass@hotmail.com

I am currently available for gigs, tours, and any session work. I am based out of Nashville - and I'm looking to get involved with some new established projects. I have over a decade of experience playing the electric bass. I have also studied and performed with world-renowned artists/musicians.

Other than playing bass (which is my first instrument of choice) - I also play electric/acoustic guitar, piano, percussion, and harmonica.

I would like to get with artists/musicians that have some original music ready to play - and that have some gigs, tours, and sessions in their future.

I am also a singer/songwriter - so, I can sing lead/harmonies if needed.

I can play any genre. Anything goes! Rock, Funk, R&B, Country, Blues, Alternative...etc. I am a solid bassist with a lot of performance experience. I also have my BA in Music/Bass Performance. AND - I have great touring equipment and basses.

Please check out my website to listen to my original music (which I am playing bass on) - to get an idea of my vocal/bass performance.

www.amandamccoy.com

I will post my bio below to give you an idea of who I've worked with and what I've done.

Thanks!

BIO:
Amanda performed at the Heritage Music BluesFest (Wheeling, WV) 2008 – as both a solo acoustic artist and bassist for The Catch Blues Band. Amanda and The Catch Blues Band combined forces to perform a smokin’ hot set as the opening act for blues legend Johnny Winter.

As a bassist, Amanda has performed and studied with many world-renowned musicians – the list reads like a who’s who of the music industry, and includes Kenny Aronoff, Victor Wooten, Pandel Collaros, Steve Bailey, Mike Pope, Roger Hoard, Howard Levy, Frank Gambale, Tristen Smith, Brandon Barnes, Chad Smith, Mike Roeder, Zack Wiesinger and Molly Pauken. Amanda has developed a solid, funky, and soulful style that keeps her audience at the edge of their seat – anxiously awaiting her next “soul-shaking” bassline.

After auditioning in 2007, Amanda was among 60 bassists internationally selected to attend Bass At The Beach, a five-day conference for serious bass guitarists. Here she met world-renowned drummer Kenny Aronoff – who became a major influence and dear friend.

“When I met Amanda at Bass At The Beach – I was impressed with her upbeat, and vivacious personality combined with a down to earth sensibility. When I played with her, I told her that I loved her feel, enthusiasm and exciting vibe when she played the bass. She rocks with an R&B feel.” –Kenny Aronoff

Amanda started playing the guitar at age three – and started playing bass shortly thereafter. Coming from a very musical family, Amanda’s parents played a major role in shaping her style and love of music. At the age of nine her Father taught her a simple blues progression. From that moment forward – Amanda has never looked back.

Amanda’s experience and training at the hands of skilled performer/pedagogues such as Victor Wooten and Kenny Aronoff have imbued her with a sense of professionalism that is lacking in most folks her age. Her interest in the music of the African-American blues masters has made her expert in the performance of blues, R&B, and rock musics. Her formal training and experience has provided her with reading skills that allow her to cover the gamut from jazz to musical theater. Amanda has mastered a variety of musical genres and equipped herself with the tools appropriate to tackle any musical style. Her solid, funky, and soulful bass playing just adds another dimension to her prodigious guitar, piano, and singing abilities.

When Amanda McCoy takes the stage, her musicianship and presence are both guaranteed to knock you off your feet.

Amanda graduated in 2009 from Bethany College with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music – primarily focusing on bass guitar performance.

“In spite of her youth, she proved to be a talented and strong individual whose soul runs deep blue.” – BJFM / Blues Triangle Update
