Job Description
Job Summary: This position holds responsibility for supervising the total construction effort to ensure that a project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and required safety elements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
:Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and supervise multiple activities for project, including determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment needs, temporary power sources, and work schedule.
:Coordinate work with different crafts and subcontractors, assuming responsibility for productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
:Maintain liaison with estimator, engineer, architect, project manager, and client to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications and schedule.
:Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required.
:Maintain awareness of safety rules and procedures among personnel, as well as identify safety hazards and implementing corrective actions.
:Maintain cost control and adherence to project budget.
:Document employees actual hours worked and submit to HR/Payroll Coordinator each week.
:Assist General Superintendent and Human Resources Manager by observing and reporting potential employee relations problems/issues.
:Assist General Superintendent and Human Resources Manager in counseling employees and administering disciplinary action.
:Make recommendations for pay increases, promotions, demotions, and terminations.
:Perform additional assignments at supervisors direction.
Knowledge, Experience and Competencies:
:Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
:Must possess a valid, state:issued drivers license
:Minimum 10 years of work experience in a commercial construction environment, of which 4 years must be at a foreman level
:Ability to read, understand, and implement construction documents
:Ability to calculate correct concrete and lumber quantities for projects
:Must have basic competencies in mathematics and be able to perform math operations rapidly and accurately
:Excellent supervisory skills with ability to directly supervise up to 50 employees, as well as subcontractors
:Good interpersonal skills with customer:service orientation as well as ability to maintain confidentiality
:Excellent oral and written communication skills
:Ability to produce quality work in an efficient manner with little supervision in an ever:changing environment
:Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet:based applications
:Ability to operate basic office equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner, and mobile phone/radio
:Ability to operate pickup truck, transit and level, backhoe, scissor lift, boomlift, forklift, skidsteer, and hand tools
:Current OSHA Construction 10:Hour certification
:Current basic first aid/CPR certification
:Ability to work Monday through Friday, eight to nine hours per day, five days per week between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Ability to work on Saturdays and Sundays as needed to meet project schedules and demands
:Ability to be on:call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for project site emergencies
Supervisory Responsibility:
:Position directly supervises the positions of Assistant Superintendent, Foreman, Carpenter, Carpenter Helper, Laborer, Concrete Finisher, Operator, and Job Clerk.
Travel Requirements:
:Daily travel to various job site locations within 100:mile radius of office
:Occasional travel to meetings or events within 50:mile radius of office, 4 : 6 times per year
